Το σχολείο «Avenue House School» στο Ealing, αφιέρωσε την Παρασκευή 9 Μαρτίου στην Ελλάδα, την ιστορία της και τον πολιτισμό της αλλά και τη σύγχρονη ζωή της. Το πρόγραμμα της ημέρας ήταν πλούσιο! Αρχαίο θέατρο και μουσική, ελληνικό γεύμα, mini ολυμπιακοί, ελληνικοί χοροί και κατασκευές όπως αγγεία και ψηφιδωτά, ακόμη και μάθημα απλών ελληνικών φράσεων, και όλα αυτά ντυμένοι, δάσκαλοι και μαθητές, σαν αρχαίοι Έλληνες, θεοί του Ολύμπου ή τέρατα της ελληνικής μυθολογίας!
Το δικό μας σχολείο συμμετείχε σε αυτή τη γιορτή για την Ελλάδα, επικοινωνώντας μέσω SKYPE με το σχολείο και τους μαθητές και πραγματοποιώντας κοινές δραστηριότητες, με συντονίστριες τις δασκάλες Debbie Monteforte και Κατερίνα Ζωγραφοπούλου. Τα παιδιά απάντησαν σε ερωτήσεις ( Quiz) για τις χώρες τους, τραγούδησαν τραγούδια και αντάλλαξαν πληροφορίες για τη σχολική ζωή στις δυο χώρες. Τα παιδιά στην Αγγλία μας έδειξαν τις κατασκευές που έφτιαξαν εμπνευσμένες από την ιστορία της Ελλάδας και εμείς τους παρουσιάσαμε παραδοσιακές φορεσιές της περιοχής μας. Ο ενθουσιασμός και από τις δυο πλευρές ήταν μεγάλος, τόσο κατά τη διάρκεια της προετοιμασίας όσο και κατά την ώρα της σύνδεσης!
Στη συνάντηση παραβρίσκονταν ο διευθυντής Mr. Justin Sheppard, εκπαιδευτικοί του «Avenue House School», η Dr. Rupa Huq, μέλος του Βρετανικού κοινοβουλίου (εκπρόσωπος του Central Ealing και Acton), η κ. Μαριάνθη Παπαδημητρίου, μέλος της Ελληνικής εκπαιδευτικής αποστολής στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία εκ μέρους του Γραφείου Συντονιστή Εκπαίδευσης στο Λονδίνο, η οποία μας προσκάλεσε στη συνεργασία αυτή, καθώς και ο διευθυντής του σχολείου μας κ. Λάζαρος Σουλίδης.
Όλοι ευχηθήκαμε αυτή η συνάντηση να είναι η αρχή μιας φιλίας και συνεργασίας και στο μέλλον. Ευχαριστούμε όλους για τη χαρά της μέρας αυτής!

GREEK DAY in Avenue House School in Ealing, London
“Avenue House” Primary School in Ealing, dedicated Friday, March 9, to Greece, its history, culture and modern life. The schedule of the day was very rich! It included Greek dancing and music, Greek language and history activities, mini Olympics, ancient Greek theatrical play and craft-making, such as vases and mosaics, while they were all dressed in ancient Greek cstumes or as gods of Olympus and monsters of the Greek mythology!
Our school participated in this celebration for Greece with a SKYPE session with the school and pupils and carried out joint activities under the coordination of the teachers Debbie Monteforte and Katerina Zografopoulou. The children responded to quiz questions, sang songs and exchanged information on school life in the two countries.
The pupils at “Avenue House” showed us the crafts they had made inspired by the Greek history and we presented them with traditional costumes of our region. The excitement on both sides was great, both during the preparation and during the SKYPE session!
The skype meeting was attended by the “Avenue House” Primary School” teachers, the headteacher of the school, Mr. Justin Sheppard and the member of Parliament (representative of Central Ealing and Acton) Dr. Rupa Huq, Mrs. Marianthi Papadimitriou, member of the Greek delegation on behalf of the Education Office at the Greek Embassy in London, who invited us to joint this event, as well as the headteacher of our school, Mr. Lazaros Soulidis.
We wish this event to be the beginning of a long-lasting friendship and collaboration between the two schools. Thank you all for organising such a lovely and joyful day!
